This Chinese restaurant in Seoul is operated by SM TOWN, one of Korea’s leading entertainment agencies. The location is at the newly opened Mondrian Hotel in the Itaewon district, which has recently opened in the hottest city of Itaewon and where we stayed. Since we were supposed to stay in Mondrian Hotel and my husband loves Chinese cuisine, choosing this place is natural in a way.
Nice place for every gathering | SMT China Room
From what I heard about this Itaewon Chinese restaurant before my visit, all the times are good, but the lunch menu is especially popular. This is because you can enjoy a wonderful atmosphere and course menu at a reasonable price.
Chinese cuisine in the gorgeous restaurant
Passing by a well-renovated lobby in a charming way, SMT China Room was also beautiful. As the Mondrian Hotel is impressive with its modern yet bold use of colors and artistic interiors, and I guess there was also influenced by it. From the entrance, it is colorful with dusty pink and gold shades full of hip sense.
We arrived just in time for dinner starting at 6:30 and sat on a rounded seat that I really love. The interior atmosphere and all surrounding were really luxurious and pretty. For example, the Villeroiboch tableware, flowers on each table, etc…
By the way, it was possible to have a private meal by eating in the room, but the atmosphere in the hall is very good. There were other guests for seemed to have a formal meeting, a family gathering, and a couple with their anniversary. The restaurant seems a very proper place for almost every occasion.
Dinner course ‘Bird’
We ordered the Bird Course (75,000 won). This course is the lowest priced course menu but we were satisfied enough. Although the menu is similar, the price range and composition are different. In addition to the course menus below, there are also a la carte menus, so it is good to choose according to the situation of the day. Menu composition is like below.

This Chinese restaurant in Seoul offers very clean and delicious cuisine. To be honest, the food overall was not that unique or distinctive. But since it is Chinese food that anyone can eat without any hesitation, it is a definitely nice choice for family gatherings or other gatherings. What is more wonderful is the price is 75,000 won, but with this kind of configuration. I think it would be good to come with my parents. Here is one of the great Chinese restaurants in Seoul!

In addition, apart from the above restaurant, there are other many options for dining in the hotel Mondrian Itaewon Seoul. You have quite a wide range of options instead. But to be fair, I would say SMT China Room is a very satisfying Chinese restaurant in Seoul. No regrets about it 🙂
1. On the rooftop | Privilege Bar
After dinner, we went up to the rooftop bar named ‘Privilege Bar’. Here combines a terrace with a stylish interior, which we failed to seat because of full of customers, and rooftop space. In the outdoor space, there was the main bar that didn’t open yet in cold weather and a small glass igloo available for reservation. I would prefer the outside for enjoying spectacular panoramic views of the city. But we couldn’t have a seat unfortunately, we went down again for a short drink on the first floor.
2. Various bars, cafes, and restaurants | Coffee Bean, Cleo…
There are many restaurants and bars in Mondrian Itaewon. Among them, we chose a bar as well as a cafe named Blind Spot. Here always many customers regardless of time because the venue is just as good in the morning as it is late at night. There offers a range of bespoke and signature cocktails and we chose each of them. I loved the strawberry one so much!
Second, there is a franchise cafe ‘Coffee Bean’ which we had the next morning. A lot of locals seemed to come, too. It’s a casual cafe but since it’s inside a hotel, it feels like they paid more attention to the interior.
The last (but there are many elsewhere that I didn’t get in) is ‘Cleo’ where guests have breakfast as well as run like an ordinary restaurant. People reviewed this restaurant as warm and enjoyable for shared dishes. I could also see why lots of people love this restaurant which exudes a casual-cool ambiance.
